According to York County Emergency Management Spokesperson Ted Czech, on Friday, April 10 at around 2:30 p.m. a body was discovered on the 100 block of Mount Zion Road in Springettsbury Township in a “wooded area”.
The Springettsbury Township Police Department and the coroner were dispatched to a small “wooded area” south of 138 Mount Zion Road on Friday from a report of a deceased individual. On arrival, the body was lying on the ground in the wooded area. They then recovered and transported it to the York County Coroner’s Office–an autopsy is scheduled to find the manner of death and the identity of the deceased individual.
The scene was cleared before 5 p.m. The police force requests for public assistance although no further details have been revealed.
Community speculates (on article comment page) that the body is *most likely* a deceased homeless person that lived along the railroads. They were trying to spread the message that police need to survey that area constantly.
The police are still investigating this death. They are urging anyone with information on the case to contact the Springettsbury Township police at 717-757-3525.
