Six years after Jeffrey Epstein’s death in 2019, speculation started about what “the Epstein files” might contain. Many people believe that Epstein hosted important public figures on his island, sparking theories that they could have been aware of what illegal actions were occurring. Pressure was put on The Trump Administration to release the files. On Nov 18, 2025 the Senate agreed to pass the bill impelling the Justice Department to release the Jeffrey Epstein files.
Police first opened a criminal investigation in 2005 after a 14-year-old girl reported being sexually abused by Epstein. Police gathered many other allegations, stating that the abuse occurred in Epstein’s Palm Beach, Florida mansion. In 2006, photos of girls were found throughout Epstein’s mansion and he was indicted for solicitation of prostitution. In May of 2007 an assistant U.S. attorney and two FBI agents worked to assemble 60 criminal counts against Epstein. In July of 2007 the U.S. attorneys office offered to end the investigation on Epstein if he plead guilty to two state charges, agreed to a prison term, registered as a sex offender, and set up a way for his victims to obtain monetary damages. Epstein was sentenced to 18 months in a minimum-security facility on June 30, 2008. On July 22, 2009 Epstein was released, after serving less than 13 months. By 2010 many lawsuits were settled against Epstein. On July 6, 2019 federal agents arrested Epstein on one count of sex trafficking minors and one count of conspiracy to commit sex trafficking of minors. On August 10, 2019 Epstein was found dead in the federal detention facility where he was being held. It was later concluded that his death was a suicide.
Many women shared their testimonies against Epstein. Courtney Wild stated, “Jeffrey Epstein sexually abused me for years, robbing me of my innocence and mental health,” and “Jeffrey Epstein has done nothing but manipulate our justice system, where he has never been held accountable for his actions, even to this day.”
Epstein’s ex-girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell and his British co-conspirator were investigated for helping with Epstein traffic girls.
