Local gas prices have been going up so rapidly from $3.10 a month ago to $3.82 today. If you were to have a big truck that takes diesel, a month ago the average price would have been $4.17 but today it’s $ 5.35. This is a huge difference, now it’s per gallon is about a $1.18 difference. Now in total it adds up because the average truck takes about 40 gallons. Local gas prices are currently being affected by the war in the Middle East all around the world, they have been rising nonstop and show no signs of stopping. It’s rapid climb a week after the U.S. and Israel launched major attacks on Iran that escalated into a war in the Middle East. Now oil prices have been rising a lot as well. Prices for a barrel of oil costs around $90, one of the main reasons for that is because around 50% of gas is made out of crude oil. Which approximately a barrel of oil was $73 before the war with the Middle East. “The price of oil, which is market-determined, is the biggest, movable determiner,” of gas prices Patrick De Haan, a petroleum expert at GasBuddy told CBS News. Trump said how low U.S. gasoline prices are, he had a point about falling pump prices. When he did his speech gasoline prices had dropped to a nationwide average of $2.92 a gallon, down from $3.11 at his January 2025 inauguration.
After a couple days, the U.S. and Israel launched a war against Iran — and Trump’s year-plus progress on gasoline prices were essentially wiped away. After the war started on Feb. 28, prices for both crude oil and the material that is refined into gasoline have spiked, it is predicted it continued to rise.
