When I was asked to interview someone that is important to me, I knew I wanted to interview my favorite Senior, Kassidy Hinson. I have known Kassidy since seventh grade, when I started throwing on the middle school track team. Over the last four years I have built a very strong bond with her. In the fall, Kassidy will be attending Millersville University. She will major in accounting and play on two sport teams. She will be a field hockey goalie and she will be a thrower on their track team.
I asked Kassidy questions about things she has learned, what she will miss about Spring Grove, and what she is most looking forward to. She can’t wait to play sports as a Marauder, but she will truly miss playing with her team that she has been on since middle school. The teams that she grew with and became very close with. Kassidy said her best memory from high school was playing sports because she was surrounded by people that had the same passion as her.
When I asked Kassidy what teacher helped you most she said, “Can I pick two?”. She told me Mrs. Ford and Mrs. Grim because they both taught her so much in their classes. They supported her through ups and downs and truly showed that they enjoy what they do. After taking Mrs. Ford’s College in the High School Accounting class, Kassidy finally figured out what she wanted to do after college.
Kassidy is excited for graduation and starting her new chapter but she will miss many things about home. She will miss her friends that she has grown a significant bond to and being close to her close and extended family.
Kassidy had many successes throughout high school, such as National Honor Society, placing at Counties for track and going to districts, being on the YAIAA All-Star Field Hockey Team two years in a row, and so much more, but she also had some setbacks. Kassidy was so set on a plan and didn’t have open arms to other options for after graduation. She told me, “Do not be set on only one plan because if it does not work, you will be scrambling for a backup plan.”
Happy Graduation, Kassidy! I know this is only the beginning of all the incredible things you’re going to accomplish. You’ve made such a lasting impact on my life—helping me find light in difficult moments and giving me the confidence to grow into a better version of myself. I am so grateful for every memory, lesson, and laugh we’ve shared over the years. As you take this next step, I have no doubt you’ll succeed in everything you set your mind to. Good luck at Millersville. Keep chasing your goals and throwing far!
