On February 13, the Class of 2028 and FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) students from Spring Grove Area High School, organized and held a winter dance. This dance was held in the Spring Grove Area High School from 6:30-8:30 PM.
Students from these groups came together and spent many weeks brainstorming ideas to make this dance possible, and to reach its fullest potential. After school on Friday, February 13, these students stayed after school and spent time setting up. They aimed for a blue, white, and wintery look from the decorations they selected. FCA also came to school an hour early and made decorations for the dance. Well-loved teacher, Mrs. Ford, taught the club how to make a proper paper snowflake.
Molly Bryan, student from both the class of 2028 and FCA, expressed, “I thought it was a lot of fun but I would say that we should’ve planned it out better rather than jumping into it.” Kinley Grove, another student that attended and planned the dance stated, “I loved it, it was really fun and a great way to get a break from the stress going on.” Adelyn Leppo, one of the members of FCA and class of 2028, really put a lot of time into preparing and making sure the dance was successful. “It was definitely stressful, but seeing how it turned out really made it all worth it.”
Many students drifted towards the dance floor thanks to Jack Enslon, a junior at Spring Grove and a leader of FCA, that dj-ed. The modern band also performed numerous songs including the popular song, Silver Springs, by Fleetwood Mac. The song Cupid Shuffle was played which definitely fit the valentine’s mood.
Overall, to everyone that attended, the thought and preparation that went into this winter dance was clear.
