As of Friday, February 13, the SEC college baseball season has begun. The Vols played their 3-game series against Nicholls this weekend, taking all three games while scoring a combined 27-3 runs across the games.
As the first series comes to an end, the future games for Tennessee are looking bright. Not only outsourcing their opponents by so much, the Vols hit a combined 3 home runs, 2 of which coming from their unicorn 2-way Blaine Brown, who also posted a 3 up, three down (first three batters striking out) inning in relief.
Professional opinions say if Tennessee can keep the momentum going, they should end the season with a record of 40-16(18-12 SEC). Other predictions concluded by analysts include Henry Ford being the team MVP after coming from Virginia and showing good power and contact tools. Brown is also projected to flirt with 20 home runs while still keeping it up on the mound. Ford is also projected to lead the team in batting average coming off a .362 season at Virginia. Although Levi Clark struggled his freshman season at Tennessee it’s hoped he has a breakout bat this year while mostly playing first.
Tennessee’s newest additions from this weekend include Henry Ford, Blaine Brown, and Garret Wright. The newest additions to the Volunteer’s lineup went off in the first series, with Brown hitting 2 home runs and a double. Other notable performances from the new additions include Ford with a HR and double, and Clark with a three-run shot.
The veteran Vols had their share of fun too with Antigua’s first hit being a double, along with Marin and Abirnithy doing the same. Henceforth this year’s Volunteers baseball has a bright future and a good chance of seeing Omaha dirt this year.
