The Dallas Cowboys, the team of America. ESPN reports that the Dallas Cowboys have the best offense in the entire league as of mid-October 2025. Bryant McFadden claims that “Dak Prescott is playing like an MVP Caliber player,” while ESPN personality Stephen A. Smith called him a “leading candidate for league MVP honors,” and former Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb stated he is the MVP front-runner.
Back in 2023, Dak Prescott was the MVP Runner-Up for the 2023 NFL season. Prescott finished in second in the vote for the AP NFL MVP award. That season Prescott threw for 4,516 yards and led the league with 36 touchdown passes.
On the other hand, the Cowboys Defense has been ranked near the bottom of the barrel, with being ranked around 30th or 32nd in the league. They primarily struggle with pass defense and points allowed. The Cowboys run defense is ranked poorly due to struggling with gap control and tackling fundamentals. The defense has let up a huge number of rushing yards. The pass defense is also struggling, the defensive line lack consistent pressure on opposing quarterbacks from pass rush, they give the opposing quarterback too much time in the pocket. Over the pre-season, Micah Parsons was traded to the Green Bay Packers for a couple reasons like, desire to reallocate resources, and an effort to improve the defense in a different way. Now that the Cowboys have lost a key player on their defense, their pass rush isn’t as good as it used to be.
Jerry Jones is engaged with the Cowboys defense, he is keeping the door open to make a trade to improve the unit. The team has a huge salary cap space after trading Parsons. The Cowboys are also missing DeMarvion Overshown, the starting linebacker, but he suffered a significant knee injury in the 2024 season.
