Chrissy is sixty two years old. One of her greatest achievements is running. When Chrissy is running all her problems slip away and she feels free. she ran half marathons, 5ks but the full marathons is what stole her heart. She ran two, one in 2019 which was in Philadelphia and the most recent one was in 2022 during covid for the marine core. Shortly after her greatest achievement she got the heart breaking news her father had passed in November of 2023 not only that but in 2024 Chrissy found out she had stage 4 terminal Breast cancer a million thoughts were going through her barin but one was the loudest “im going to die.” but she persevered, One person who was there for her her whole life and is there for her now is Cathy, Crissys big sister. Cathy has been her biggest supporter through the grief and all the good and bad news, “she’s my best friend.” Chrissy is fighting for her life, not ready to give up. But cancer is hard on her mental health. Most days she feels sad and sick, Chrissy knows her family is there for her, she appreciates most when her granddaughter comes over. The medicine she takes makes her sick and lazy but when she gets the chance to see her family it lifts her spirits and motivants her to keep going and never give up seeing them achieve great things makes a smile come on her face, but nothing compares to the place that makes her feel the most safe, her farm, the horses the dogs her granddaughter being there for her helping her is why she is safe there.
Q: Tell me more about the Marathon and how it made you feel running.
A: It was the best thing I did while running. I ran half Marathons, 5ks but the full marathon was the best.
Q: When did you run them?
A: I ran in Philadelphia in 2019 and then I did the marine core marathon, but it was during Covid so I had to do it vertically and then send my information and that one I did in 2022.
Q: How does going on runs make you feel?
A: Good, it makes you feel like you’re just free.
Q: When you get sad, what do you do to cheer yourself up?
A: Visit with my family with my granddaughter, she cheers me up.
Q: Tell me more about how your farm is your safe place.
A: Everything about it: the horses, the dogs, my granddaughter coming.
Q: How has your sister supported you?
A: She’s my best friend.
Q: What does she do to lift your spirits?
A: Take me to Wawa and we will get food.
Q: How does your family motivate you?
A: Because I like to see them doing good and I love to be around them.
Q: Do they put a smile on your face?
A: Yes definitely.
Q: What was going through your head when you first found out you had cancer?
A: I thought I was going to die, which I am still terminal.
Q: How did you persevere?
A: I did what I was supposed to do, what the doctor said to do, and kept on going, kept on working.
