TikTok got banned for 12 hours on Jan 19, after the unban it left many users unsure if the app is to stay. It leaves the question where will over 170 million U.S users go if their beloved app gets removed for good?
According to CBS news the reason for the ban of TkTok in the United States was allegedly due to their ties to the Chinese government posing a threat to the U.S national security.
Even though allegedly Shou Chew the CEO of TikTok has said that he’s working to alleviate the security concerns by storing data in the U.S and that the propaganda concerns are unfounded. Chew is from Singapore.
With the uncertainty of if the popular app TikTok is to stay, many have looked into other alternatives. Spring Grove Area Highschool data shows that some of its consistent viewers have migrated over to these apps during the 12 hour ban.
