Last week, OpenAI released an AI video generator called Sora. The CEO showcased its abilities on twitter by posting videos from short prompts. This tech is not released to the public, but two years ago the same company released an AI photo generator called Dalle-2. This became very popular because of its many flaws and inaccuracies. Lots of people are worried about the large risks of quality AI videos can cause in the hands of the public.
Lots of people are worried that AI could be used to create propaganda, scams, and other disinformation that could be harmful to society. Many others are concerned that AI could steal the jobs of human animators now that it has expanded to video, proposing laws that restrict the use of certain topics in ai video. Though Sora is smart it is not flawless. At the moment there are still some ways of telling real and AI generated videos apart, but like Dalle-2, Sora will most likely improve and get harder to tell from real video. This tech is still new and extensive knowledge on AI video is not out.
