Only a few weeks into the 2023 college softball season, Olivia Miller is already making Florida Gators history.
On Saturday afternoon against Lafayette College, Miller threw her second perfect game of the season, making her the first player in Florida history to throw two perfect games in a single season. This pitching is one of the reasons the Gators beat Lafayette College 8–0 to improve on their 13–2 record.
Miller has since improved her pitching record to 3–0 on the year. She allowed one run each in games against Illinois State and Colgate, but has otherwise held all other opponents without a score. The Gators retired all 15 batters they faced that day in Florida’s 16 to nothing run-rule win. Miller recorded five strikeouts, five groundouts, and five fly outs on just 50 pitches.
With such flawless pitching, Olivia Miller was given the SEC Freshman of the week following her previous perfect game earlier in the season.
