Gunman kills multiple people in Ballroom Dance studio

On January 22 at around 10:30 PM a gunman was found dead after killing 5 men and 6 women, and injuring 10 people. The gunman arrived at the Star Ballroom Dance Studio around 10:20 PM. The police say they suspect he started open firing while walking into the dance studio. Next he went to a dance studio in Alhambra, California. There he was disarmed by a group of people. As the police arrived shortly they found the gunman dead by committing Suicide.



As on Monday it was stated 11 people died. The following victims were shot and killed during the Incident, Mymy Nhan, 65, Lilian Li, 63,  Xiujuan Yu, 57, Muoi Ung, 67, Hong Jian, 62, Yu Kao, 72, Chia Yau, 76, Valentino Alvero, 68, Wen Yu, 64, Ming Ma, 72, Diana Tom, 70. The city of Monterey Park is offering mental health resources to the wounded.



Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna identified the gunman to be Huu Can Tran. Tran is a 72 year old man. Said by three of his friends, he once had been a regular presence at the dance studio, he even met his ex-wife there about two decades ago. “Tran would make the roughly 5-minute drive from his home in San Gabriel to Star Ballroom Dance Studio almost every night.” Stated by a friend of Tran.
