NFL Divisional Round Recap

This past weekend, the NFL Divisional Round of the Playoffs took place. In an exciting round of matchups, here were the outcomes.

Saturday was the first day of games, with the Jaguars and Chiefs taking each other on at Arrowhead. This game was slated heavily towards the Chiefs on paper, but the Jags did not shy away. Jacksonville struggled early, but they were able to have some shining moments, but also moments that were very dull. Trevor Lawrence threw one pick, and Jamal Agnew had a costly fumble inside the red zone. The Chiefs were able to take care of the Jags playoff troubles, and went on to win this game 27-20. During the first half, MVP front runner Patrick Mahomes suffered what looked like a scary ankle injury, but was just an ankle sprain that he was able to return from. Although he returned, he visibly was limping after almost every play.

The Saturday Night game consisted of  a divisional rivalry between the Eagles and the Giants. This game was also very one-sided on paper, and played out in favor of the favorites. Although the Giants were able to upset the 13-4 Vikings the weekend before, they struggled heavily against the #1 seed Eagles. Philadelphia won this game 38-7, whilst running the ball down New York’s throats.

With both #1 seeds now in their separate championship games, two spots still needed to be filled. The first game in a stacked slate of games was a rematch of the Bills vs. Bengals, also their first matchup since Damar Hamlin tragically collapsed on the field. This game was the third with a very heavy favorite for the home team, but things played out quite differently this time around. Although it was snowing in Buffalo, the Bengals dominated the Bills on both sides of the ball. The Bengals were able to score on their first drive, and didn’t look back there. The Bengals shocked the Bills 27-10, sending the Bills home, and ruining their Super Bowl hopes for the third year in a row now.
