Karsen Hax, Staff Writer

Spring Grove Area School District has showcased many plays and musicals over the years. This year they have chosen the musical Pippin, which tells the story of a adventurous prince named Pippin. Once the musical was revealed it wasn’t long before auditions took place and the cast list was released.

The lead role was given to Peyton Rohrbaugh. Peyton has been in many other productions. He has portrayed many other characters in plays and musicals such as Oklahoma!, The Secret Garden, South PacificNewsies, and Miracle on 34th Street.

Peyton was very excited to be given the role of the lead of the musical, but he knows that being the lead will be lots of work.

During an interview Peyton said, “I know that I have to put forth a lot more effort.”

Peyton feels as though he will be ready for the musical in March with lots of hard work.

Peyton views his character as someone that is trying to find what they want to do with their life. He had first heard of the musical from the song “Corner Of the Sky.” But other than that he had not known much about the musical Pippin before it was revealed as the school musical.

Peyton says that he is excited to be working with his peers, but he is mostly looking forward to working with Carmi Wilmot and Brendan Livelsberger. He is satisfied with the people that have been casted and believes that everyone’s voices will blend to sing the wonderful songs of “Pippin.”

Over the past couple of years there having been rumors of the plays and musicals roles being pre-casted.

When Peyton was asked if he believe the roles have been pre-casted he stated that, “The musical was casted in a fair manner. Everyone that got their role fought hard and long for it.”

Peyton was pleased with himself after his audition. He knew there was a great amount of competition for the role, but he remained confident.

See Peyton perform the lead in the musical Pippin on March 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.
