2011 was the last year the Los Angeles Angels made the playoffs. This historic playoff drought has lasted 14 years with their latest elimination coming this year in 2025. With them losing their star pitcher Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout suffering with injuries it seems like in season luck is non-existent. Their best year in that time span was 85-77 in 2015 narrowly missing the playoffs. Little did they know missing the post season this year would lead to 10 more years of dread of just hoping to at least be 0.500 in wins. To make the postseason they will have to start with ownership. With the organization in an unstable place, there is no way the team can strive with coaches being fired or general managers selling the team just for greed and money. Secondly, is pitching, with them losing Patrick Sandoval, Shohei Ohtani, and Yusei Kikuchi they will have no pitching staff to win any games. As coaches say, “Defence wins championships.” Thirdly, division realignment. Now I know this is controversial but the angels share a conference with too many teams and none locally that should be in the same division as them. With the realignment it gives franchises a restart and a fair chance to have a winning season or make the playoffs. Lastly, not smart draft picks. Going off of my second reason is the decision making on draft picks while they already have good hitters like Zach Neto and Mike Trout. The angels are choosing hitters, instead they should go for pitchers or key bullpen arms rest as their pitching is their worst attribute. The angels need a change. Whether it be coaching or players they need to come together as an organization and make the best possible team.
