13 people were hurt in 2 mass shootings at Minneapolis homeless encampments on the same day.
CNY Central has stated that Monday’s shootings mark the fourth and fifth mass shootings to occur in Minneapolis within the past three weeks. MINNEAPOLIS, MN (TNND) — Two shootings occurred in 12 hours at homeless encampments in Minneapolis on Monday, leaving 13 people wounded, five of whom are critically injured. Minneapolis Mayor, Jacob Frey, said he would not be surprised if the two shootings were connected. On CBS news OMinneapolis Police Chief, Brian O’Hara, said. “I know there’s been a lot of violence lately and we just want our community to know that we are not going to give up and that we will continue to fight so that every person in this city can be safe.”
Momsdemand on instagram reported the mass gun violence has devastated Minneapolis once again, targeting homeless encampments where a total of 13 people were wounded— five critically. The shootings took place as the city is still reeling from two other mass shootings that left three people dead, including two children, and over two dozen more wounded. Three additional shootings in the city left two dead and two injured. Three weeks ago, just blocks away from Monday’s shooting near 1-35, one man was killed and six others were injured in a midday shooting near Cristo Rey Jesuit High School where about 30 rounds were fired from a high-velocity .223-caliber gun. One of the shootings took place near the Interstate 35 exit ramp where drug dealing and drug use are carried out in broad daylight.
O’Hara said the earlier shooting occurred just after 11 a.m. that same day.”While the investigation is still very, very preliminary, that is certainly something that we can’t rule out, and, of course, it’s something that we are considering,” if the two cases were connected somehow. Suspects have not been arrested as of yet. Authorities are investigating whether the two incidents were connected. On ABC news they said it’s possible they have a possible connection between the two shootings, Frey added, “We don’t know for sure, but I wouldn’t be surprised.” Detectives are investigating if the shooting is connected to earlier gunfire at a nearby homeless encampment. That shooting left five people injured, including one in life-threatening condition. Currently, there have been no arrests announced.
