Earth Day is celebrated on Tuesday, April 22, 2025.
People celebrate Earth Day by making posters, cleaning up garbage at beaches or local parks, planting trees, recycling, and attending environmental events. The goal for 2025 is to triple the amount of the earth’s energy by 2030. This has been the goal since 2000. This year we celebrate 55 years of having a day dedicated to our planet, Earth. We celebrate each year to protect our planet.
The founder of Earth Day is Denis Hayes. Hayes is an environmental advocate and an advocate for solar power. Hayes studied at Harvard University, Stanford University and Clark College.
The theme for the 2025 Earth Day is, “Our Power, Our Planet”. Earth Day is an international day devoted to our planet. It draws attention to the environment and promotes sustainability. Every year around the world about 1 billion people take action to raise awareness of the climate crisis and bring about behavioral change to protect the environment.
