During the Women’s NCAA Basketball Championship, the University of Connecticut (UConn) beats South Carolina (SCar) 82-59 at Amalie Arena in Tampa, FL. UConn earns their 12th National title which is a milestone the team has been aiming to reach. UConn led every quarter and had a 20-point lead in the fourth quarter. SCar struggled to match UConn’s intensity and fell behind offensively. SCar also struggled to score at the arc and fell behind when it came to three-point shots. UConn also out-rebounded South Carolina 48-29 and forced 13 turnovers in the game which allowed them more opportunity for shots and points on the board. Sarah Strong led the Huskies with 24 points and 15 rebounds. The victory also marked the end of Paige Bueckers’ UConn career, as she played her final game. Although SCar lost this game, it doesn’t mean they didn’t have a great season. South Carolina was ranked number one in the southeastern division and battled many good teams throughout the finals and came all the way to the championship game, which is a huge accomplishment by itself. Both teams showed talent, and their hard-work ethic in this final game and entertained thousands.
