The spring weather has recently been all over the place, causing major inconveniences for Spring Grove sports. Spring Weather is usually rainy, humid, and warm. Though recently it’s been feeling the opposite. Besides the rain portion, this spring has been feeling like winter. After the last week of March with highs of 80°, there have been lows of 23° for the past 2 weeks and only highs of 45°. Luckily, these cold temperatures have not dropped to 31° while raining, or else we would have had one big snowstorm.
On Wednesday, April 3rd, Spring Grove JV traveled to Manheim Central only to play 2 innings because of rain and lightning, and then go home. Unfortunately, this game was never rescheduled because of the distance. Though Monday, April 7th, the Varsity Rockets were scheduled for a game in Susquehannock earlier that day, it got canceled because of a rainstorm. Luckily, the Rockets plan to take on Susquehannock on May 5th.
Many girls on the team have thoughts on this weather. Freshman Varsity Pitcher, June Wilt says, “This Weather recently has been really interfering with our season. I wish it were a nice sunny day where we could just play ball!” Some games are able to be rescheduled, and some are not. This weather recently has been dragging out Spring Groves Softball teams season, hopefully May brings a different forecast.
