On Sunday, March 9, the Philadelphia Phillies played against the Baltimore Orioles at Baycare Ballpark in Clearwater, Florida. The Phillies destroyed the Orioles with a score of 12-2.
The winning team was the Philadelphia Phillies, the winning pitcher was Ranger Suarez, and the losing pitcher was Thaddseus Ward. Edmundo Sosa had the first home run of the game and tied it 1-1. From here, the Phillies just kept going uphill. The Orioles pitcher threw 3 wild pitches that led to 3 runs and made the bases loaded. The three runners were Trea Turner, Bryce Harper and Max Kepler.
Bryce Harper had a two-run single, which made the game 3-1 before the wild pitches. Aroon Escobar had a two run home run which made the game 8-2. The home runs of the game were Bryce Harper, Christian Arroyo, Garret Stubbs, Aroon Escobar, Aidan Miller, Otto Kemp, and Edmundo Sosa with two home runs of the game. The Phillies had eight hits in the game while the Orioles had five.
The Orioles players that had any hits were Coby Mayo with a sacrifice ball in the second inning which added the first point of the game. Luis Vazquez had an RBI double that made the game go from 3-1 to 3-2 in the top of the fifth inning. That was the last time the Orioles got a point in the game.
Overall the game went very well for the Phillies, and even though spring training doesn’t count to the World Series or their regular season this looks good for when their season starts.
