On January 12th, The Spring Grove Girls Soccer Team started their indoor soccer league at the South Hanover YMCA. They played a total of 7 games so far this season and they have one more this upcoming weekend.
The Girls Soccer Team has a record of 5-2 and they have had many challenges throughout the season but have powered through to have a successful season. They have played Delone Catholic, New Oxford, Gettysburg, AVO, Southwestern, Craze 1, and this weekend they are playing Craze 2 at 12 pm. The top scorers of the Indoor Girls team are Lily Potts, Avery Orem, Lilly Smyser, and Cecily Derienzo.
The Girls team also participated in their first ever indoor soccer tournament at Messiah University on February 8th. They played Bermudian Springs, Trinity, Delone Catholic, Inferno, and Cocalico. The indoor tournament was a big challenge because it was mostly made up of club teams but the team powered through and had a successful weekend. They went 2-3 on that weekend and there were a lot of positive comments from players who participated. I asked Lily Zech about her thoughts of the tournament and she said, “It was a great experience even though it was extremely difficult. It was a whole different atmosphere and playing field but we adjusted and powered through.”
