February 14 is a special holiday for Americans to shuffle desperately to find a last-minute gift for their significant others, but there are several eco-friendly gifts that are much cheaper. This is an important idea to follow, for it benefits the earth and the people in it. Some even believe this is more thoughtful than the same old gifts that are continuously given and forgotten about. “I would rather get eco-friendly gifts; it makes me think my boyfriend is more thoughtful to me and the environment,” says Emma Hess. If you’re stumped on what is considered a fun, eco-friendly gift, a few would be a potted plant instead of the ones that are in a bouquet, a reusable water bottle is always the way to go and even organic chocolates! This allows people to get fun and safe gifts for the world, making Valentine’s Day a day for the earth, too. Why not show love for the earth and your partner? Most of these fun gifts can be cheaper than running to the store to buy something; a simple handmade card or gift is so much more fun and thoughtful. This should all be kept in mind when you’re buying something that your partner won’t cherish as much! If you’re still stumped you could make a photo album, using recycled papers! Or make homemade bath bombs out of natural herbs and scents. Another idea would be to bake some cookies. If none of these feel ideal for the person you want to get a gift for researching other websites can go a long way to figure out what they would like the best. There’s tons of tutorials and recipes online that you could go for! Valentine’s Day should be a day for loving someone and the earth.
