Right before the Super Bowl weekend, on Feb. 7, the PlayStations users received a network outage. Many PlayStation users express their outrage and even crack some jokes on X.
PlayStation said on X just before 9 p.m. Friday: “We are aware some users might be currently experiencing issues with PSN.”
Users found comedy behind this all and threw down a few jokes on social media.
“Playstation network down, time to get to know my wife of 5 years,” a person wrote on X.
“Playstation I Hope u gonna give us a free game.”
Famous companies started to join in on the fun. As in, Krispy Kreme, which stated on X “Calling all gamers: this play station still works Grab a free Original Glazed Doughnut today from 5-7 PM—because sweet rewards don’t need a server.”
The outage greatly impacted Capcom’s Monster Hunter Wilds’ limited-time open play test, which occurred the same weekend. The developers have now promised the second of February’s playtests will run an extra day.
As many erupted online the PSN were working hard to bring back the PlayStation network for gamers to enjoy again. Because of their hard work they were able to get everything back up on Sunday.
“Network services have fully recovered from an operational issue,” “We apologize for the inconvenience and thank the community for their patience.” Ask PlayStation stated on X, to alert the players of the fixed issues.
There being no clear answer on why this outage event took place leaving some fuming for answers. People speculate that this happened because a server rack physically failed, a cloud server hitting capacity and causing a jarring bottleneck, or it could’ve even been a certificate expiring somewhere to take services offline. Nothing has been confirmed nor denied by PlayStation on the recent outage.
