On Tuesday, Feb. 4, Bo Bassett committed to Iowa. This was live on Flowrestling.
Bo Bassett is a very skilled wrestler who went to the high school Bishop McCort. Bo had a lot of skill when he wrestled as he holds an undefeated record of 110–0 and won a U-17 world championship in 2021, as well as a U-20 world bronze medal in 2024. Bo graduates in the class of 2026 and wrestles in the weight class of 144 pounds. As well as being a very good wrestler, he is athletic all around being a three-time Ironman champion.
Why Iowa
Schools such as Penn State, Oklahoma State, Iowa, and Virginia Tech were all some options for Bo. Penn State and Iowa were both in the college wrestling championship this year, and Penn State ended up winning. The wrestling program sticks out more to Bo as he gets the opportunity to be trained by wrestler Spencer Lee, who he has looked up to. Bo made this statement when talking about Iowa, “It wasn’t an easy decision, but I think it was the right decision… You get what you earn, so I’m excited to be a hawk.” Bo is excited to be in the program and is hoping to do some big things for the team. Another big reason for Bo’s commitment is because of the NIL deal he was offered. Even though he said the NIL deals from each school were pretty comparable, but between Iowa’s program and deal, he decided that it would be in his best interest to go there.
