On Monday January 20th, 2025 Donald Trump had his inauguration ceremony to celebrate him becoming President at the U.S. Capitol . It started at 11:30 a.m. ET.
The theme of this year’s ceremonies is “Our Enduring Democracy: A Constitutional Promise.” The inauguration ceremony took roughly an hour after Trump took the oath of office. This will be Trump’s second term being president of the United States. “The golden age of America begins right now.” Trump said during his speech. “We will be the envy of every nation and we will not allow ourselves to be taken advantage of any longer.” Donald Trump stated, “My top priority will be to create a nation that is proud, prosperous, and free.”Trump also declared that there will only be two genders — “male and female.”
In Trump’s speech he delivered sharp criticism to the outgoing administration, right in front of former President Joe Biden and former Vice President Kamala Harris. Trump claimed that the government cannot manage simple domestic crises.”While at the same time stumbling into a continuing catalog of catastrophic events abroad.” While Trump was saying his speech he declared that many if not all of those who are convicted of attacking the Capitol on January 6, 2021 will be pardoned that day. The culture issues and immigration were always the fuel to Trump’s political rise. Immigration has been a key priority of his base.
Trump said he would quickly sign executive orders related to deportations, energy, tariffs, and more. “We will do it at a level nobody has seen before.”
At the inauguration there was a lot that he promised to do, but a lot that he also left out. There were also about 20,000 Trump supporters gathered in the capitol. They had to move the event indoors because of the cold temperatures they were expecting.
