On Sunday 19 2025, Pennsylvania received 7 inches of snowfall causing car crashes and other casualties around the state. The day began very overcast and cold with temperatures in the teens. Snow began around 9 to 10 A.M. and was consistent until 7-8 P.M. This northeast snowstorm came on quickly making it difficult for people to get to their homes from public settings. Roads were treated as quickly as possible with salt and plowing to ensure safer road conditions. Snow stuck to the already freezing roads, and vehicles compacted the snow causing icy roads. Many smaller cars struggled to keep traction on these icy roads and in turn caused countless crashes throughout PA.
After the snow halted, temperatures dipped into the negatives overnight worsening road conditions. Thankfully, Monday after the storm was a Government holiday, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, so many people had off work and school allowing them to stay home safely.
Tuesday post-storm, many schools were delayed in the morning due to freezing temperatures and black ice on roads. The snow may have stopped, but the road conditions were rough making it difficult for many to do daily tasks like go to work, school, the grocery store, and even the doctor. As the week went on, temperatures stayed in the teens during the day and negatives during the nights and mornings. As the weekend came, January 25-26, temperatures significantly increased causing snow to melt.
