Two children who were reportedly missing from Ohio on October 25, 2024, were just found in Iceland with their mother. The grandmother of the children had reported the kids missing and as high risk when she found out that their mother wasn’t taking her meds that helped keep her mentally stable. The grandmother had repeatedly expressed her concern for the household that the kids were staying in. There was no time spent checking the house till their school had noted that they were no longer coming, which raised suspicion, ultimately giving the school a reason to again make another report to the police. The mother’s apartment was then checked and found abandoned for quite a while. The Canton police had to begin their investigation, and multiple agencies began the long search. On January 10th, 2025, months later, the kids were found in Iceland. They were located by the Icelandic police department in Reykjavik . The Icelandic police took the children into custody till a family member could come to get them and return with them to Ohio. Meanwhile the mother was placed into a hospital till she is stable enough to leave Iceland. The National children’s center in Iceland had provided the financial means to send the kids home in a proper manner. Police stated that despite all the troubles with this case and it being brought abroad, the help of multiple law enforcement officials made it possible for this case to be closed and the children to be recovered safely. “Icelandic officials were kind of keeping track of them and their location until we could get the proper court orders for them to be able to take the children into custody,” said Captain John Bolsey. It isn’t stated yet if the mother of the children will face any sort of charge for what she’s done.
