Trump’s mass deportation plan is to arrest illegal immigrants. ICE will be arresting migrants in major cities:like Washington DC, Denver, Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York. Trump is sending 1,500 more troops to the southern border and The Department will be conducting a Military airlift to deport more than 5,000 people. Trump has promised this would be the largest deportation operation in U.S history. ICE can arrest all undocumented immigrants, even those who aren’t suspected of any crimes. If ICE is targeting a criminal and that person is with another undocumented immigrant they will be arrested as well.
During Trump’s inauguration speech Monday he said “ we will begin the process of returning millions and millions of criminal aliens back to the places which they came from.” Trump’s new policy now allows ICE to conduct enforcement actions in or near sensitive areas like schools and churches, places that under the Biden administration, would require more steps before authorities could initiate arrests. Homeland Security Secretary Benjamin Huffman said “ Criminals will no longer be able to hide in America’s Schools and churches to avoid arrest. The Trump Administration will not tie the hands of our brave law enforcement, and instead trusts them to use common sense.” The fast track deportation procedure allows immigration authorities to remove an individual without a hearing before an immigration judge. A group of Quaker congregations filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration’s new policy allowing immigration arrests in houses of worship. The lawsuit, filed Monday in federal court in Maryland against the Department of homeland security alleges Trump’s policy “deters congregants from attending services” and “is a violation of every individual’s constitutional right to worship and associate freely.” Ice has arrested a number of child sex offenders, as well as gang members and other criminals
