During the Christmas season, the US loves to get into the Christmas spirit by decorating to their heart’s desire. However, some people don’t decorate the exterior of their homes due to personal and economic reasons.
Some personal reasons are like the following: they don’t want to or don’t think it is needed. On the website Quora, Eileen Wood stated, “I don’t want to, I don’t need to…” on a questionnaire that was posted on the website about why people don’t decorate the outside of their homes for Christmas. Along with ‘the_h0t_r0ck’s response to a similar question on Reddit that states, “Such a waste of energy. Stupid people like stupid things.” Both of these quotes relate to the fact that one of the reasons that people don’t want to decorate the exterior of their homes is because they don’t want to or don’t think decorating the outside is needed.
Now another main reason people don’t decorate the outside of their homes is because of prices and possible damages. Another person, Amer Khwaja, responded to the questionnaire on Quora stating, “Not everyone can afford to buy lights and pay the added electricity bill…” In addition, Cleveland Public Power reported that certain lights are made to withstand certain weather conditions, so using the wrong lights could end in a disaster of a fire. These two quotes show the reasoning behind peoples economic, like prices and possible damages, reasons to not decorate the exterior of their homes.
Ultimately, during the Christmas season, the United States loves to decorate their homes to get into the Christmas spirit, but some people, because of personal or economic reasons, choose not to decorate the exterior of their homes.
