On December 5, in Spring Grove, Pa., there is a tree lighting where the families of Spring Grove come together to watch the holiday tree’s Christmas lights be lit for the first ceremonious first time each year. Most families in Spring Grove enjoy coming together as a community to watch the tree be lit. The tree gets put up in the middle of November and then gets lit for the first time of the season on December 5. From then on, the tree stays lit every day until after Christmas. The tree will light at 6:15 on December 5th. Shortly before the tree is lit, a parade will take place around the circle. Santa will arrive in the parade on his fire truck with Mrs. Claus and the reindeer. All kids can write letters to Santa and sit on his lap. The choir will be performing their Christmas songs for all the visitors.
The Spring Grove Borough has been holding this event for many years and yet it is still a fan favorite. There is always hot cocoa, cookies, ice carving, and many different fun contests for people to enter. There are also plenty of other attractions to choose from as you are waiting to see the beautiful tree light up. In the Spring Grove circle you can stop by Dunkin’, Subway, Genovas, and much more.
The tree lighting is a historical event here in spring grove. It has and will always bring the community together for a beautiful night of fun, happiness, and Christmas spirit.
