Gypsy Rose Blanchard and her online boyfriend killed her mother, Dee Dee on June 10th, 2015 in her childhood home. Gypsy was a troubled child who grew up with her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard, who made claims to the public about her health that resulted in a series of false diagnoses and medical interventions. However, Gypsy wasn’t actually sick—her mother had been lying about her symptoms to the public to gain money and fame from around the world.
Gypsy and Dee Dee Blanchard’s house was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina in 2005 which destroyed all of Gypsy’s birth information and medical information. So Dee Dee decided she wanted to start over completely and changed Gypsys age to be 5 years younger than she actually is and she also created many false medical diagnoses. Dee Dee put Gypsy on a feeding tube, hundreds of medications, and had an insane diet that wasn’t healthy. Gypsy was belittled her whole life.
In 2011, Gypsy tried to get away from her mother by running away with a man she’d met at a science fiction convention. But Dee Dee soon tracked them down via mutual friends. Gypsy eventually managed to get back online by stealing her mother’s computer. She joined a Christian dating site, where she met Nicholas Godejohn. She told him the truth about her mother’s actions and how she abused her physically and mentally and ended up asking him to kill Dee Dee so they could be together. In June 2015, he came to her house and stabbed Dee Dee while Gypsy waited patiently in the bathroom for it to be over. Gypsy and Godejohn returned to his home in Wisconsin where they were eventually found by the police a couple weeks later. Gypsy had posted multiple times to her Facebook account which she shared with her mother, writing messages about her mothers death and how they murdered her. She later explained to police that she made the posts because she wanted her mother’s body to be discovered.
Gypsy Blanchard was released from prison in December of 2023. Blanchard became something of a pop culture sensation following her release from prison. Besides a massive social media presence and plenty of media interviews, she also had her hands in multiple television deals that made her extremely famous and rich. Not only did Gypsy get rich once she got out of prison but she was also getting income while she was in prison. She was getting money from tv shows getting produced and countless interviews she did. Gypsy also currently has a show on Lifetime that is documenting her current life out of prison.
Blanhard had many different relationships while she was in prison but she did end up marrying Ryan Anderson while she was incarcerated. But their relationship didn’t last long and Blanchard announced the news that she and Anderson had gotten a divorce on her private Facebook page in March 2024. By late April, Blanchard announced she was back with her “soulmate” and ex-fiance, Ken Urker. Blanchard had previously admitted to still having feelings for Urker and speaking to him while with Anderson. On July 9 Gypsy Rose announced her pregnancy with Urker via a YouTube video titled “I’m Pregnant, My Journey So Far.” In it, she told fans she was 11 weeks pregnant and that the child is due in January 2025. Some people believe that she’s trapping Ken Urker with the baby like her mother did with Gypsy’s father when she was young.
