Adults at Spring Grove High School state the reason for these bathroom policies are in order is because “the school and teachers need to know where you are at all times. If a student just decides to get up and walk out of the door without telling anyone, no one knows where they are going. They could be going to roam the halls, meet up with a friend, or just skip class in general.” The teachers also have their points. When teachers are in the middle of teaching, and a student raises their hand, the teacher expects a question, but instead they get the question of “Can I use the Bathroom?” Sure this can be annoying, but the main worry is that the student is more worried about asking to use the bathroom than what the teacher is talking about.

Students say in high school the bathroom policies are “sometimes better, but then the next day, all of the bathrooms on one floor are closed”. The students are tired of constant bathroom changes. Students state that “the school should have more safety policies in place, not restrictions of bathrooms.” The students at Spring Grove High School fill out a form, and that is how they use the bathroom. Students like this solution to making them feel like they have more trust, and responsibility, but it certainly doesn’t make up for the unreasonable bathroom shut downs. Although students are tired of this, they do understand that there needs to be safety orders in place. Students agree they should not be allowed to walk out of the classroom without informing an adult, though would appreciate bathrooms being open to them whenever they need.
