Hoco Parade
The Spring Grove groups and programs participated in the annual homecoming parade on 10/3. The parade started Thursday at 6:00 and trailed around the Spring Grove Campus.
The parade is run through Student council and this was definitely a busy year for them. Student council members got to Kennies an hour before the parade, started to organize the different floats and organizations. The members also had to map out exactly where the parade would run through so the community would know. Student Council member Jack Rorhbaugh said “this was one of the busiest years yet!” Despite that there were no major conflicts that came up.
The kids would come and get dropped off at the library and then the Student Council members, wearing these brightly colored shirts, would get the kids to their groups in the parade. Over by the Hoke house the Homecoming court was getting pictures. The Homecoming court was set to be in the middle of the parade and each couple in the court had a car they would be riding in. During this time, the groups and associations were all getting ready behind Kennies. The types of groups varied through the parade line up having the youth fall sports, the Boy/Girl Scouts, the marching band, school programs and all of the class floats.
Then the parade began. The parade started to course through Spring Grove, going out of the Kennies strip and up Roths Church Road. Kids and adults lined the streets as candy was being thrown everywhere. Almost everywhere you looked there was a pile of candy and the kids were loving it. The parade continued through the school campus and was still lined with people and food trucks getting ready for the bonfire that is happening after. Shortly after all of the groups were at the end of the parade and now everyone was getting ready to have fun and enjoy the bonfire.
