Some pedophiles might have to receive a harsher punishment in Louisiana ahead of the start of 2025. If this bill is passed through they will be castrated for offending a minor under the age of 13.
In the regular legislative branch in Louisiana, Senator Regina Barrow pre-filled the castration bill, SB371, in 2024.
The description of SB371 is : “the administration of surgical castration for sex offenses when the victim is under the age of thirteen at the time of the offense; to provide for medical evaluations of the offender conducted prior to treatment; and to provide for related matters.”
The bill also states that this course of action will be done by surgical professionals and the Department of Public Safety would give the materials needed to complete it.
Other states with castration laws in the works, or in place are Georgia, Iowa, Montana, Oregon, Texas and Wisconsin. In Iowa, California and Florida criminals can be sentenced to chemical castration in cases involving serious sex offenses.
In Louisiana there is a man, Glenn Sullivan, age 54 who pleaded guilty to four second-degree rape charges. The judge in charge of the case, Attorney Scott M. Perrilloux said in a news release, “Sex crimes against juveniles are the most malicious crimes we prosecute.”
Assistant District Attorney Brad Cascio said in a later release, “I intend on using every tool the legislature is willing to give us, including physical castration, to seek justice for the children in our community.”
