Chick-Fil-A is now legally going to be required to stay open on Sundays. Chick-fil-a has always famous been known for being closed on Sundays, but due to freeway system in the United States, lawmakers state if someone was traveling on a road trip and decides to go to a restaurant on a Sunday and it’s closed that would be a problem for hungry road trippers. This rule, for now, has only been set for New York and New Jersey. Although it will most likely take effect in other states. This won’t just affect Chick-fil-A, but other restaurants as well because several New York State lawmakers want to require restaurants at rest stops and along the states 500 mile freeway to stay open throughout the week.
The fast food chain is and has all ways been famous for being closed on Sundays. The reason why they are closed on Sunday is because many of the companies values are influenced by the Christian religious beliefs of the founder S. Truett Cathy.
Chick-fil-a has gained some criticism in the past few years with the company donating to anti LGBTQA organizations such as the Fellowship of Christian Athletes-that stated for its employees to refrain from “homosexual acts”, Salvation Army- that have been accused of anti-LGBTQA discrimination and advocacy for years, along with having a openly homophobic media relations director who one said gay people “deserve death”. Along with that the company donated $6,000 to the Paul Anderson Youth Home. This home teaches young boys that same-sex marriage is a “rage against Jesus Christ and His values.”
