Spring Grove Area School district’s 2023 to 2024 winter sports season starts on November 17, 2023. Here are the players and coach’s expectations and hopes for the upcoming season.
For girls basketball Amelia Etter says, “I hope that we are able to achieve all our goals and play as a unit and that we can go as far as our potential allows”. Emersyn Toomey said that her “hope is to be the third one off the bench for varsity by the end of the season.” Melody Moore hopes “to score points on varsity”.
From Boys Basketball, Jaden Orweiller says that he expects and hopes to go to districts and have a winning record. Bothe Kysier Ludwig and Jack Mummert hope to beat Central. Dawson McMaster wants for the team to “work together as a team to meet [their] common goals”.
Tanner Grim, a boy wrestler, says that he hopes to “make it to states” by “finishing top 4 at districts”, and as a team he hopes they “win the county championship again”. Felicity Davis, a girl wrestler, hopes “that it’s a good season and all the girls stay healthy and not injured. She also expects “that all the girls will give their best”.
Abigayle Martina from competition cheer says she hopes “we hit 0 on a routine and are able to learn harder skills than what we’ve been working on”. She also hopes that many people support them on this journey like “pop[ing] out Thursday Nov 16 at Dallastown for their first competition of the season”. Emma Evans also hopes that they “make it to states”.
From winter cheer, Harper Francez hopes to “get better and progress as an athlete” and “as a whole to not have as much drama and get better as a team.”
Maddie Bortner from Swimming and Diving hopes “to come together as a team, swim the best we can, [and] go to districts”.
Mr.Baker, who coaches Bowling, says he hopes to “always do our best” and that “we’ve done well [before]”. He also says that the team “will be very competitive”.
Mr. Laux, Spring Grove Area High School’s athletic director “hope is that we have positive seasons”. He says “We have exciting young teams. We got the first PIAA season for girls wrestling and inaugural season for unified bocce. I hope for success and fun times”.
The players and coaches have many hopes and expectations for the upcoming season. Overall, they wish to have a winning season and play successfully as teams. Spring Grove Area High School Winter teams are looking very hopeful this year!
