Spring Grove students plan on doing fun activities on Halloween. Most students participate in Halloween festivities like trick or treat or going to a party. Others pass out candy, dress up, hang out with friends and family, or like to scare people. We went around asking students where the most popular trick or treating spots are, and how they plan to spend the holiday.
The majority of kids party or go trick or treating with friends. We went around asking students where the most popular trick or treating spots are and some of them were the York Fairgrounds, Codorus Township, and New Salem. The other half of the students like to go out and party at their friends houses.
Not many people hand out candy, they leave that to their parents! About only five people in total said that they actually hand out candy to kids, which is not surprising, as a lot of the Spring Grove students are either trick or treating themselves or going to parties that their friends are throwing. Or another response being going to hang out with friends only seven people said that they go see friends and do something with them. Surprisingly only six people said they do nothing and just stay home on the night of Halloween, maybe they’re watching scary movies like the four people that said they were! And lastly, only four people go to haunted houses, they are very fun said some students, when asked where they commonly go they said the Haunted Mill, or they go to Field of Screams.
A few of the teachers at Spring Grove said they like to dress up and hand out candy, some even said they scare kids! Our ninth grade principal, Mr. Snell, even added in that he has a family tradition that his family gets together and passes out candy and gets wings and pizzas and other stuff and just hang out for the rest of the night! A few more ideas that other people may do on Halloween is carve pumpkins, and paint pumpkins for fun! They can carve many scary faces into the pumpkins! Some thing other people may do is read a few scary things like short stories and books! That can be a lot of fun because especially painting pumpkins, you can paint or carve cute things into them or scary things! Like a regular jagged scary face or a smile face, but most people do the classic scary face to give people a good scare!
If you do hand out candy, make sure to scare kids, or maybe set up props to scare them, especially get scary decorations to put up so they also give the kids a fright, maybe get the famous twelve foot skeleton for your property, to intimidate the kids before they walk onto your property. Something that may scare the kids a lot is if you get a fog machine because then as they walk up and it gets foggy the kids may be scared as they walk up for the candy. Some other ideas you can do is put scary descales in the window to scare kids! Those are some good ideas to scare kids in your neighborhood before giving them candy.
