On October the 6th, famous rapper/singer Doja Cat posted a photo to Instagram of her wearing a shirt with a photo of neo-Nazi, Sam Hyde. The photo has since then been deleted, but she later posted the same photo just without Sam Hyde. This behavior has become common for the singer, with a pattern of racism and generally offensive behavior.
Her second most recent controversy is about a tweet she posted in the month of July.
She tweeted that a group of her fans who had called themselves “kitten” or “kittenz” need to “get off your phone and get a job and help your parents around the house.”
She followed this by replying to comments to her tweet with rude and sarcastic comments.
One of the replies was to a comment where the commenter said “everyone is mad because your calling your fans dumb” to which she replied “………are they not”
Her overall behavior the whole time showed her disregard of her own fans feelings. After that twitter thread, she lost over 200k followers. She also tweeted, “planet her and hot pink were cash-grabs and y’all fell for it. Now I can go disappear somewhere and touch grass with my loved ones on a island while y’all weep for mediocre pop.”
In May of 2020, There was leaked footage of her in insel chat rooms making sexual and racist comments. Along with that a song she released in 2015 called “dindu nuffin” resurfaced. The song titled “dindu nuffin” is a phrase a used to mock black victims of police brutality. She claimed in an Instagram live that the song was written in response to people used to hurt her . And that it was an attempt to flip its meaning.
On August 28th, 2018, old tweets resurfaced of her calling Tyler the creator and Earl sweatshirt the f slur. She then went on to tweet that she’s said the f slur in high school, and that she’s said it roughly 15 thousand times. Although she did later apologize for her use of the slur.
In her music video for her song, “so high” a part of the lyrics has a line in which she says “now we both look Asian” referring to her eyes after smoking weed. Along with that, the music video has recently gathered attention for sexualizing and appropriation of Hindu culture.
