It was enchanting to see Taylor Swift at the recent Chiefs games, and it’s all thanks to Kansas City’s tight-end, Travis Kelce.
While the two haven’t exactly confirmed if they’re officially dating or not, both Swifties and football fans already adore the pairing. Though the couple may seem random, it has definitely been beneficial to The Chiefs ticket sales and viewership, which gained a whole 29 million viewers (that’s a whole 53% increase than their usual!)—the highest number since the Super Bowl.
If Taylor and Travis were hoping to fuel the romantic rumors between them, then they did it right. The internet was taken by storm when Swift watched the game alongside Travis’ mother, who is known by most football viewers as the one and only Mama Kelce. Videos on various platforms helped aid a running internet joke that Swift “put Kelce on the map.”
Kelce was even seen looking up at Swift during the game as if to get her approval on his performance. And quite a performance she got, too, as the tight-end grabbed a 3-yard touchdown pass during the third quarter, and helped bring his team to a big victory of 41-10 against the Chicago Bears.
When asked how he felt about her appearance on his brother Jason’s podcast, Travis expressed his feelings on Swift attending the game. “Shout out to Taylor for pulling up,” he shared, “I just thought it was awesome how everyone in the suite had nothing but great things to say about her. The friends and family. She looked amazing, everybody was talking about her in a great light.”
It didn’t take long for photos of Taylor cheering alongside Donna Kelce to spread like wildfire over the internet, shouting with the Chiefs Kingdom. Many fans also witnessed Swift and Kelce leaving the field in their very own getaway car.
Kelce must have been taking notes from Taylor’s Midnights track, Mastermind, because he’s been planning this for months. He shared that he wanted to be part of the Swiftie tradition of bringing friendship bracelets to her record breaking Eras Tour by giving Taylor a bracelet with his number on it.
Although Kelce is aware of the attention he is bringing to himself, he wishes for the public to be able to focus on them separately within their own fields.
