The Spring Grove wrestling team is currently 10-5 for the season of 2018 and 2019. This season, Spring Grove proudly defeated rival schoo, South Western.

The final score on January 15, was 36-24. But during this match they did more than just win the match; they also raised an incredible amount of  $44,000. On Tuesday the team hosted a “Take Down Cancer” match which benefits the Heather L. Baker foundation, which helps families struggling with cancer in the York-Adams area.

Heather Baker was a Spring Grove teacher who passed away in 2010 due to a rare cases of breast cancer called triple negative. Both her and her husband, Donnie, attended South Western high school.

Prior to the match, Donnie addressed the crowd and thanked Tony Miller, former wrestling coach, for helping him start the event 10 years ago.

Since Spring Grove is 10-5, they still have a chance of getting another division 1 title. Spring Grove has won three straight division 1 titles and 10 of the last 11. If Spring Grove would have won the match on Thursday, January 17 against Dallastown they would have been a three way tie, for first place, between the Wildcats and Gettysburg. Unfortunately the match ended 46-24.

Spring Grove has one more match at New Oxford January 24, 2019 at 7:00. They are hoping for a big turn out since it is the last match of the season.
